A Poetry Book for “Voiceless” Women
A Poetry Book for “Voiceless” Women
Pain’s Conception: A Woman’s Struggle to Personal Freedom
Many women feel voiceless. They bottle up all of their hurts, pains and secrets because of shame and fear of stigmatization. The book “Pain’s Conception: A Woman’s Journey to Personal Freedom” was written by St. Lucian author Chantal J Antoine and it is an attempt to give a voice to the voiceless. Although the book is written about a woman to help other women, many people can relate to a number of poems that reflect the true human conditions of pain, betrayal, neglect, love and freedom. It is an easy read and readers will find that there is a message hope and tenacity within its pages.
This raw, open and reflective account of the author’s journey through poetry allows the reader to share in the birth of unfathomable internal struggles from her childhood to womanhood. This book was written in four parts to take its readers from her darkest times, revealing her ‘Battle Scars”, unto moments of “Fantasy”, until she arrived at her “Awakening” which lead to her “Redemption”.
Pain’s Conception is written to show women that they can channel their most debilitating circumstances into something positive. According to Ms. Antoine, “women do not have to be or remain who others have judged them to be. Making mistakes are a part of every life and it takes a strong and courageous person to change their own lives.”
She continues, “writing has always been therapeutic for me and I wrote this book as an example of what women can do with the experiences that have hurt them. There is a general message for each woman to release the hurts of their past and dare to discover their real selves despite their circumstances. Dare to love themselves unconditionally while seeking their real purpose in life.”
Pain’s Conception is Chantal’s first published poetry book and it is currently available at St. Lucian bookstore, AF Valmont’s Book Salon and Sunshine Bookstores. The book will be available online at Amazon Kindle stores and in Trinidad Bookstores in the upcoming months.
