Police say they have made headway in the Crystal St. Omer murder case and that a young male suspect is in custody assisting with investigations. Reports suggest he could be charged before the weekend, pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The announcement was made by Assistant Commissioner of Police Frances Henry who says the DPP will determine whether there is enough evidence against the suspect to pursue an indictment in the matter
The high ranking police officer says a combination of hard work and diligence on the part of investigators and public support helped in the identification of a suspect, but she cautioned, the case is far from over.
Seventeen year old Crystal St. Omer went missing last Wednesday. Her partially decomposed body was found at Cap Estate on Saturday. A post mortem established Crystal St. Omer’s cause of death as strangulation.
