Lucians Told To Buy Local

by Jeanneau Martelly

The Saint Lucia Manufactures Association is encouraging Saint Lucians to buy local products in order to save the manufacturing sector.

This follows concerns by manufacturers that their survival was being threatened by unfair competition from abroad.

Association President Paula Caldron says by supporting local, thousands of jobs are secured and monies are kept circulating in the local economy instead of being expatriated abroad.

She believes manufactures have produced quality goods of international standards and therefore warrants public support.

“The Saint Lucia Manufactures Association has been actively supporting its members by urging various governments and institutions and other private sector companies to buy local and keep people employed by that we mean buy local products which are of international standards. For my part I refuse to dine at any restaurant that does not include local. We believe it is time for you the people to actively demonstrate heighten patriotism by supporting what is Saint Lucian,”

said President of Saint Lucia Manufacturer’s Association Paula Caldron
