Darren Sammy and Johnson Charles, the two St. Lucian players on the victorious West Indies cricket team, will be given a hero’s welcome on arrival at Hewanorra International Airport, Vieux Fort. The two arrive at 1.45 p.m.
The two champions will be met on the tarmac as they alight the aircraft by Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony and Minister of Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Shawn Edward among other dignitaries. A small reception will be organised in the airport terminal for invited guests, including family members, former CEO of WICB, Dr Ernest Hilaire, and officials of the National Cricket Association.
Once the formalities are over thousands of school children and members of the public will meet them at the terminal’s entrance. This will be followed by a motorcade, making stops at Micoud, Dennery and the Mabouya Valley. More school children and the public will line the streets as the motorcade proceeds to the Derek Walcott Square where an official “welcome home” ceremony will be held. The T/20 Championship trophy will be on display.
The arrival, motorcade and official ceremony will be broadcast LIVE on Radio St. Lucia.
